Fougasse

Perhaps best know for his ‘Careless Talk Costs Lives’ posters commissioned by the Ministry of Information, Fougasse (or Cyril Kenneth Bird) is surely one of the best British cartoonists of the 20th century, spending many years working for Punch.

We’ll be exhibiting a range of original Fougasse posters plus other examples of commercial lithography including Eric Ravilious’ illustrations for ‘High Street’ (see right) printed at the Curwen Press in 1937.
